It’s been a long time coming but Letterdash Phase 2 has finally arrived!
I must start off by saying that Phase 2 was really the brainchild of the great Alistair Fairweather (whose shoes have proved REALLY big to fill) and Matthew. I just had the honour of putting the wheels in motion and getting what has turned out to be a huge and wonderful improvement to our blogs, launched. … Continue Reading

Dear Santa
Admittedly I have been a little naughty this year. For one, I didn’t always comb my hair or wear matching socks to work and my punctuality has been somewhat of late (excuse the pun). Also, I avoided pesky relatives where I could and threw moldy cheese at my ex-neighbor. And it’s not really my fault that I had to lie about that website which popped up just as the missus was walking in. … Continue Reading

Well although this is only the preview of the VB version we promised that the C# version will be here soon.
Besides a cleaner, cooler look they say you’ll find navigation easier

My grandfather had a favorite saying:
“How you say it is more important than how you mean it”. I remember thinking that he somehow had it in reverse and meant it the other way around but because of it’s yoda-like appeal, I didn’t ever bother rectifying him. Today, after many years of exposure to the online social ‘verse; from the early trout-slapping of IRC to the nostalgic netscape chat crashes to the free-thinking forums and eventually to the social-hungry tubes, twits and faces; I can humbly say: Granddad had it right all along.

It was almost October, our financial year ends in March, and we hadn’t spent a cent of the conference budget I’d arm wrestled our CFO for.
So the entire marketing team took an “out of office” and attended the Huddlemind Word of Mouse workshop that took place last Friday morning (11th Sept) at the Cape Royale hotel. … Continue Reading

Okay, so this really hot blog walks into a bar. Barman asks: “Can I comment?” Blog replies: “Okay, but you gotta wear a captcha”.
“Never before in history has any individual person had the means to express themselves so freely to such a degree that every sentence, from the tiniest of tweets to the most preposterous of posts, is able to reach such a wide audience in such a micro-scale of time.”

We recently celebrated a birth at 20FourLabs - the birth of our newly revamped and rebranded blogging engine,
Letterdash.
The launch was a culmination of an intensive gestation period, during which Letterdash’s much loved but now outdated predecessor (24.com Blogs) was completely overhauled. Our emphasis was on maintaining the functionality that our blogging community had come to love while giving them more freedom to customise their pages.

20fourLabs is an R&D division, and as part of the R in R&D we decided to play around with Social Engine to see what the leading networking applications are offering and how users interact with them.
So we purchased a license and some plug-ins and started playing.

One of the highlights of my job as Community Manager is organising Meetings of Bloggers.
I normally select a venue, go and visit the manger to basically explain what a MOB is all about and how we work as we normally run up a tab and at the end of the afternoon everyone pays their share of what they have had to eat and drink.
I then do a blog post detailing the date, time and venue and the bloggers all comment to let me know who will be attending. The last MOB was held in April at Forries in Newlands and about 20-25 bloggers attended. I am currently organising another one scheduled for 25 July.
