It’s been a long time coming but Letterdash Phase 2 has finally arrived!
I must start off by saying that Phase 2 was really the brainchild of the great Alistair Fairweather (whose shoes have proved REALLY big to fill) and Matthew. I just had the honour of putting the wheels in motion and getting what has turned out to be a huge and wonderful improvement to our blogs, launched. … Continue Reading

So we have another social/microblogging/lifestreaming service, called Google Buzz. It is, without doubt, Google’s boldest social play yet. Despite dominating pretty much all the key areas of the internet, it’s no secret that social is one area that has eluded the search giant so far.

I remember once, out with a friend for dinner, ranting about the hectic day I’ve had. About the different difficult users I’ve had to deal with, when they suddenly jumped in and asked: “Do these people actually pay to use your site?”
I must say, this was rather deflating. I mean, why was I doing what I do, when there is no direct monetary value attached to it? But it’s a very simple business equation really: Traffic = Advertisers = Profit.

Time and attention are both scarce commodities in this day and age, add to that the surplus of information both valuable and useless being flung at us from all directions and one may feel inclined to hide under the sheets in the morning and peep nervously at the flood of data lapping at your door

We’ve been busy at 20FourLabs. The division was created about 200 days ago to build new web applications, with a particular focus on social and mobile applications. There are around 30 major projects on the go, some of them

Eran writes… In Social Media, strategy is 90% of the engagement.
There is often this type of “shotgun” approach by new people entering into the field and thinking : well it’s free! I’ll just do a bit of it all.

A geek without gadgets is like a Jedi without a lightsaber, a Trekkie without a physics major or a Linux user without root access. Rather unashamedly, I am a sucker for gadgets. Many a late night would be spent huddled under the covers with my flashlight in hands, drooling over the latest Popular Mechanics centerfold spread.

My grandfather had a favorite saying:
“How you say it is more important than how you mean it”. I remember thinking that he somehow had it in reverse and meant it the other way around but because of it’s yoda-like appeal, I didn’t ever bother rectifying him. Today, after many years of exposure to the online social ‘verse; from the early trout-slapping of IRC to the nostalgic netscape chat crashes to the free-thinking forums and eventually to the social-hungry tubes, twits and faces; I can humbly say: Granddad had it right all along.

It was almost October, our financial year ends in March, and we hadn’t spent a cent of the conference budget I’d arm wrestled our CFO for.
So the entire marketing team took an “out of office” and attended the Huddlemind Word of Mouse workshop that took place last Friday morning (11th Sept) at the Cape Royale hotel. … Continue Reading
