Kevin Cupido: Operations Manager

Kevin

Kevin

I started out with a degree in Psychology, and then moved straight to computers.
A slight disconnect between the two you might say, but in a way they are similar in that you have to ‘punch in’ information, and you don’t necessarily get out what you put in.

I am a specialist at being a generalist, I love exploring everything tech and am always on the lookout for the ‘next big thing’ – along with half the people on the planet.

Ronald Bach | Amabacha

Ronald

Ronald

Product Manager and Mobilista, mastering the lean mean meme machine – Mobile. Sport-loving, Bass Guitarist, Husband and Father of 2 energetic little boys, Ron is the “Cool Breeze” of 20FourLabs and at six foot four is the shorty in his family. (He also plays a kick ass game of squash apparently)

Marian van der Linden

Marian van der Linden

Marian

Marian is our Mobile maven and the resident gadget girl. With an air of efficiency and the organizational skills of a military officer Marian holds back the forces of chaos that threaten us daily in our quest for innovation. After travelling the world Marian has decided to settle down here in our little laboratory, where she gets to play with cool mobile devices and bully people into putting what she wants onto them.

Wendy Robb

Wendy Robb

Wendy

Wendy has had a love hate relationship with design and front end development for over a decade. Deciding eventually that usable is more important than pretty she began delving into usability testing and analysis. Wendy has added business analysis into her bag of tricks – hoping that the more skills she acquires the more likely everyone will forget that she ever knew how to clear a float. This Jill of all trades is now dabbling in product management and runs the blog and other social networking faces of 20fourLabs

Adele Groenendaal

Adele

Adele

Adele is one of our Product Managers and has been online since the Beltel and Trumpet Winsock days. She ditched her dreams of becoming a world famous photo journalist for life on the cutting edge of online existence. She enjoys pretending she’s a rocket scientist at times and intends taking over the world from her laptop on the morning of her 80th birthday.

Dave Mackie

Dave

Dave

Born in Knysna, Daev (pron DAH-evvv) fled the hippie commune to study Neurosurgery and Rocket Science (unfortunately Rhodes University didn’t offer those subjects so he took Computer Science and Physics/Electronics instead which are almost the same thing, right?). Graduating in Computer Science Honours, he briefly worked for some guy in Knysna before fleeing back to Rhodes again, to complete his Masters and then work in the Web Unit there . Eventually the lure of Cape Town became too strong, so he moved to Independent Online (IOL), working his way up to Lead Developer / System Architect , where he stayed for two years before joining 20fourLabs .

Philip Cronje

Phil

Phil

Philip is a code monkey/keyboard cowboy/console jockey that is house trained, socially well-adjusted, mild-mannered, and has been coding since he was, like, 10, which suddenly clarifies several things. He’s coded in everything from assembly to Python to C++ (and back again), and on operating systems usually reserved to the domain of grumpy old men reminiscing about the “halcyon days” before Windows’ explosive popularity, like OS/2. He toadally digs playing with new tech and toys, to the point where people hit him with bricks to shut him up. When he’s not monkeying code or jockeying consoles, he spews forth pop culture references, runs a mean game of Dungeons & Dragons, rocks out on a real guitar, and beats your high score on all video games released, ever.

Adam Brewer

Adam

Adam

Intern and newbie, I still have a lot to learn as far as web developement goes.
I like to take things apart and learn “by doing”.
*can you tell that Adam is one of our more humble team members?

Ntokozo Yingwana

Ntokozo (NTK)

Ntokozo (NTK)

‘NTK’ is one of our Social Networking Community Managers.
She moderates 24.com’s social networking site Answerit and is assisting in the revamp of this product. Ntokozo graduated in 2007 from Rhodes University with a degree in Bachelor of Journalism, specializing in New Media in her final year.
Her favorite saying is: “The battle of the sexes will never be won. There is just too much fraternizing with the enemy”.

Penny Marais

Penny

Penny

Penny is one of the two Social Media Community Managers.
She started with the company 3 years ago working on the website Who’s Who of Southern Africa. She loves communicating with and getting to know our communities. One of the highlights for Penny is organizing MOB’s (Meetings of Bloggers) as she is very much a people person. She also has an insane habit of talking to her monitor (as if it’s the actual person there) and Wendy constantly threatens to install a webcam! “Hey, being normal is just plain crazy!”

Olwen Forbes

Olwen

Olwen

Olwen works in the Mobile department as a Junior Account Executive. She deals with different types of sms campaigns and admin on a daily basis for different publications, which can get quite hectic at times, but meeting deadlines is what motivates her. She may be a quiet person just doing her job but the mobile team would just not be the same without her.

Masud Parker

Masud Parker

Masud

Apart from suiting up and battling the mobile digital gremlins, Masud designs graphics and produces content for both mobile Web and WAP sites.
When he isn’t playing hero at the office, Masud is discovering new worlds with the six strings of his guitar and painting his own melodic masterpieces. Travelling has also allowed him to step out of his own canvas and realize there is a whole art gallery out there.

Uzair Parker

Uzair Parker

Uzair

“The entity Uzair Parker works as web developer for GoTravel & 24.com Labs. He has many other titles, most are undecipherable by your primitive tongue. He is Guardian of the Multiverse, Demi-God & Wraith-Slayer & has a compulsion for open source programming and a fondness for nic nacs.”
Admin comment: Uzair has also become one of my favorite contributors… his flair for words and sense of humor bring a zing to our blog and a smile to our faces. He has also just become a daddy to a lovely little girl, his second contribution so far
